Amplifying an acoustic instrument means solving a paradox: it is either the volume or the nuance you are going to hear. I have always adopted the technical solutions that payed tribute to the instrument's foremost quality, it's acoustic sound.

Problem

At the end of the eighties the Amsterdam Guitar Trio called in for help. Preparing for their second tour in American, they were seeking a solution for audibility problems they met the first time. For them I developed the Guitar Intensifier, an amplifier for classical guitars that guaranteed the pleasure of their ensemble to all auditirs in any concertroom.

Solution

The nineties showed a growing interest in the use of acoustic instruments in popular music. On the request of guitarists looking for high quality solutions, I started working on a dedicated system, designed for sound reproduction on P.A. levels. After comparision of different techniques I chose a combination of two transducers, a piëzo pick-up and a microphone. The Verweij PM-System was the result.
